Quick Hitters: Tobin Kirk

Zachary Kynaston

The IL based alt. country artist looks to blaze his own trail with upcoming Single & LP.

Something that I've really wanted to focus on with this blog is spreading new music around to new people. Music is something I'm incredibly passionate about, and I love sharing and starting dialogues! That being said, I've really wanted to start a series where I spotlight smaller, upcoming artist's who are looking to get the word out.

That brings us here, to the first edition of Quick Hitters. Today we will be talking about independent Country artist Tobin Kirk, his upcoming releases, and the general vibes he's rocking with! I had the chance to have a brief exchange with Tobin and am excited to share what I learned and also what I heard.

Currently residing in a tiny town in Northern IL, Tobin has been playing music in some form or fashion for 30 years. He began playing in bands as a teenager, and that same passion and drive has followed him to where he is today, with an upcoming 2nd LP for Tobin under his current banner. He notes the likes of John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and even Shel Silverstein as personal influences, and fans of that brand of folk infused country are sure to be intrigued by his songwriting.

I was able to listen to the upcoming single 'I Just Might Miss You', and aside from being a really tightly produced tune, it's got an outlaw country melody and that classic lonesome cowboy campfire crooning we all love in the genre. I'm pleased to recommend this single to you all when it drops on March 8th! Spotify users can even pre-save the single HERE before its official release.

Tobin Kirk also has plans to release a full length LP, 'Tobin Kirk's Waterworks' down the line. More singles will be released in the coming weeks/months, and I can't wait to dive into the full album and review it once it's released!
